As students enter the Secondary phase of their education we expect a greater level of independence and maturity.

In Years 7-9 students follow the UK National Curriculum and additionally take  Business Studies and Drama. Students study a broad and balanced curriculum with a clear focus on the acquisition of knowledge alongside the development of key skills.

In Years 10 and 11 students study for IGCSE qualifications and study a smaller number of subjects, usually nine or ten. Subject  choices are made in Year 9 and students are expected to continue to study the core subjects of Maths, English, a foreign language, a science and an IT based subject (Computer Science or ICT).  The subjects are delivered in a flexible way allowing some students to sit their examinations in Year 10 in the case of Maths, Mandarin Chinese and other additional languages.

In Years 12 and 13 students really focus their education as they study for AS and A2 qualifications. Students primarily choose 3-5 subjects that are related to their areas of strength and/or their plans for future study.

Across the entire Secondary school, students study PSHE explicitly in lessons and through a combination of assemblies, trips, registration and special activities. This helps keep our young people safe alongside giving them the experience and attitudes to be valuable international citizens.

Students who  graduate from the  ABC International School go on to attend universities around the world. The most common destinations include the UK and the US.
