The Specific Areas

  • Literacy – In all classrooms the children are given access to a wide range of resources, such as books, songs, rhymes and other written materials to help them to begin reading and writing independently.

  • Mathematics – Opportunities are provided for the children to develop and practise their skills in counting numbers, performing simple calculations and to describe shapes, space and measures.

  • Understanding the World – The children are guided to make sense of their physical world and the environment they live in by exploring, observing and finding out about people, places and technology.

  • Expressive Arts and Design – Teachers support children to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials in a variety of activities including art, music, movement, dance, role-play and stories.
