You will gain a certificate in First Aid, valid for 2 years, at the end of the 8 week course, which would provide you with knowledge of how to respond to emergencies if you are first on the scene and be a useful addition to your CV.
Running /Cross Country Club Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Running to improve fitness and endurance; opportunity to train for the cross country championship and represent the school at this unique event.
German Language Club Tuesday Year 7 – 13 A short course for pupils who know little or no German. We will cover basic introductions and learn to talk about ourselves and ask others, too. Maybe a song and a board game- come and see!
Reading for Pleasure Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Reading to improve English and for relaxation. Come and enjoy our wonderful library complex and all the new books.
International Awards Tuesday Year 10 – 13 The International Award is available to students in years 9 – 13 and is the world’s leading youth achievement award. It equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements. The Award is comprised of three levels (Gold, Silver and Bronze) and four sections (Physical, Skills, Service and Adventurous journey). Students complete all four sections at their chosen level in order to achieve their Award.
Secondary Production Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Preparing for the Production in November, this ECA is for students who enjoy acting. We will create a selection of short pieces of drama for performance. This ECA requires a high level of commitment.
Chemistry Club Tuesday Year 11 – 13 For those students who plan to study a Chemistry related course at University, this ECA will give you some experience of working independently to research and carry out experiments in your chosen field of interest. An added bonus is that it will greatly enhance your CV when applying to universities.
Cooking Tuesday Year 7 – 9 Come and learn how to make savoury and sweet treats.  Create chewy cookies, scrumptious scones and beautiful blondies.  Students will also have the chance to research and create their own recipes.
Competitive Maths Club Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Students should select this ECA if they wish to be considered for the local and International maths competitions entered by the school. They can expect to gain vital coaching and experience of the types of problems and activities they may be faced with when competing against some of the best young mathematicians in the world.
Fantasy Football Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Are you interested in owning and running your own football team? If so, this ECA is for you. Here you can scout for and draft players, whilst competing against other fantasy football owners. This ECA allows you to use your skills to problem solve and strive to show your competitive edge. Learning how to play fantasy football is easy; conquering your competitors and becoming a champion is a different story.
Crafts Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Do you enjoy craft and making? If so, this ECA is for you. You will experience a range of different craft activities such as card making, wrapping paper making and tea towel making. You will learn to make, decorate and personalise items that you usually buy ready made!
Secondary Choir Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Do you enjoy Singing, but don’t want to sing by yourself! The join our new choir! We will sing a variety of music from different genres and cultures. We will need a minimum of 12 people to run this club though!
Intermediate Audio Sciences Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Students (with prior participation in the previous years ECA  or  pre screened for Audio tech. aptitude)  will partake in a fun yet rigorous  audio recording project. Work like the pros and get your first real feel of the professional audio industry. You’ll learn how to run a recording session, work with artists/ musicians on projects, produce songs, and use your best judgement to sonically represent your client. Get ready for a fast and exciting journey as you navigate the “Ins and Outs” of a challenging yet satisfying personal project!
Session Musicians Tuesday Year 7 – 13 Being a session musician has always been a great majority of performance based work in the music industry.  Students of exceptional skill and wanting will practice and perform studio sessions for the “Intermediate Audio Science” engineers in a recording project. Sharpen your skills as a professional musician the modern way and get a headstart into the professional  music industry.
Chess Club Wednesday Year 7 – 13 Chess, one of the oldest and most popular board games, played by two opponents on a checkerboard with specially designed pieces of contrasting colours, commonly white and black. White moves first, after which the players alternate turns in accordance with fixed rules, each player attempting to force the opponent’s principal piece, the King, into checkmate—a position where it is unable to avoid capture.
Drama Club Wednesday Year 7 – 13 Hone your drama skills with this new exciting ECA.
Computer Gaming Club Wednesday Year 7 – 13 Do you like games? Have you always wondered how they are made? Join us in the computer gaming club where we will learn how to use a range of software to create computer games! Learn a variety of skills, from digital artwork, computer programming and even sprite animation!
Model United Nations (MUN) Wednesday Year 9 – 13 All students from Years 9-13 are welcome, no previous experience is needed. This is an ideal activity for anyone who is interested in debating a range of topics, cultural, topical  or political, improving their English speaking, confidence, writing organisational and research skills. All members have the chance to participate in MUN conferences with students from other schools (4 or 5 a year) so there is a big social aspect too. The ABCIS will host the Saigon International Schools’ MUN (SAIMUN) in 2020, so it will be an important year for the MUN.
Creative Chinese Art Wednesday Year 7 – 13 Fascinated by the stylized artistic writing of Chinese characters? Want to cultivate your diligence and patience through Chinese culture? Join this club! We offer a combination of Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting along with the Chinese paper cutting and folding crafts. You will also get a chance to learn Chinese chess too!
COBIS Science Film Wednesday Year 7 – 13 If you love Science, film making and solving problems then this ECA is for you! The COBIS Young Scientist film competition is held in early March when all films have to be finished and ready to be entered. Find an  experiment or an ideas you are interested in doing and create a three minute film. It is fun and our entries have won on several previous occasions.
Expressive Arts and Design Wednesday Year 7 – 13 If you love Art and would like an opportunity to create new and exciting work then this club is for you! You will have the chance to explore your own ideas through a range of mediums and develop your paint, collage, photography, sculpture or drawing techniques!
Physics Olympiad Wednesday Year 10 – 13 If you love Physics and solving problems this is for you. The British Physics Olympiad Award examination is taken in May each year based on the IGCSE specification. Gold, Silver and Bronze passes are available for the best entries.
Charity ECA Wednesday Year 7 – 13 Are you Arty? Organised? Or just enjoy teamwork and helping to support charities? Then this is the ECA for YOU!

This is a fundraising ECA where students will plan and organise an Art Auction event for Operation Smile.

Conversation Club Wednesday Year 7 – 13 Deforestation and habitat loss; critically endangered wildlife; plastic in oceans: join to explore, raise awareness and combat the current major threats to the world we live in.
Jazz Band Wednesday Year 7 – 13 Are you a musician? Do you think that John Coltrane and Miles Davis are two of the greatest, most innovative musicians to grace this planet? Do you know the difference between a dominant and a major seventh? Do you want to get together with like-minded musicians to develop your jazz repertoire? If you answered yes to at least 3 of these questions then Jazz Band ECA is for you!
Introduction to Music Technology Wednesday Year 7 – 13 New students are welcome to explore their curiosity in music technology with a practical and hands on approach to the audio engineering industry.You’ll learn and use modern day recording gear while honing  basic techniques to get you started in the studio.
Strategy Board Games Thursday Year 7 – 13 Test your wits against other students or play cooperatively to win. Develop your teamwork and problem-solving skills with the wide selection of games available.
Secondary Orchestra Thursday Year 7 – 13 This orchestra will perform in a number of concerts during Terms 1 & 2 including a special concert for the FOBISIA Music teachers conference 2019, Saimuse and the Secondary Music concert.
Baking Thursday Year 10 – 13 Learn to challenge yourself with the most difficult form of cookery. Learn how to bake biscuits, cakes, pastries and breads from around the world, develop some new skills and take home some tasty treats – much better than anything you could buy.
3D Paper Craft Thursday Year 7 – 13 Building 3D sculptures using paper. Most of the templates we use are from Ecogami where it has more than hundred of templates on creating different sculptures, such as animals and decorations.

There will be a lot of cutting and sticking papers involved.

Table Tennis Thursday Year 7 – 10 Relieve stress and have fun after a long school day. Work on ball placement, spins and lifts in singles or doubles matches and who knows, with practice and dedication you might become the next ABC table tennis champion in front of your fans on International Family Day!
Global Issues Network (GIN) Thursday Year 9 – 13 To empower young people to collaborate locally, regionally, and globally in order to create project based sustainable solutions for our shared global issues. A chance to recognise and nurture youth empowerment.
Maths counts Thursday Year 7 – 8 Maths counts provides engaging mathematical programs to students of all ability levels to build confidence and improve attitudes about maths and problem solving. It may lead to a series of competitions for more able students.
Saigon Enterprise Challenge Thursday Year 10 – 13 SEC is an Inter-school competition in the Ho Chi Minh area between student groups that come up with a business idea, create a business plan and organise the enterprise prior to the end of December 2019, and then trade over an 8-week period between January and April 2020.

Student teams are made up of students in Years 10-13 and they do not need to be studying a business-related subject.

The teams then attend an evening event where they present a business report on the activity, create a trade stall demonstrating their business and present to leaders /entrepreneurs from the Ho Chi Minh City business community.  The main aims of the process are to provide the students with opportunities to develop their entrepreneurial skills, which are being given much wider focus from governments in many economies.

Cricket Friday Year 7 – 13 You may have never played cricket before but think it looks like a fun competitive sport to try. You may be really good at it. Whatever your level, come and join the Cricket ECA. We will work on improving your hand-to-eye coordination skills while playing friendly games of cricket.
