These are the areas which are used to strengthen and support the prime areas.
Literacy – In all classrooms the children are given access to a wide range of resources, such as books, songs, rhymes and other written materials to help them to begin reading and writing independently.
Mathematics – Opportunities are provided for the children to develop and practise their skills in counting numbers, performing simple calculations and to describe shapes, space and measures.
Understanding the World – The children are guided to make sense of their physical world and the environment they live in by exploring, observing and finding out about people, places and technology.
Expressive Arts and Design – Teachers support children to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials in a variety of activities including art, music, movement, dance, role-play and stories.
